A group of local families reading in unison
Family Literacy Day
There are many causes and foundations people donate to, but we often forget how important literacy is. Everyone deserves the opportunity to learn. The Parenting and Family Literacy Centres (PFLC) teamed up with the York Region District School Board to host a national awareness event regarding literacy. York Region families were invited to join the festivities on January 27th at Woodbridge Public School. The theme of the event was “Sing for Literacy” and local singer-songwriter Glenn Marais was present throughout the day. Reading and writing skills are important, but this event teaches families the importance of engaging in literacy-related activities, such as reading, together.
