Tema Conter Memorial Trust Gala
The Tema Conter Memorial Trust held their 9th annual charity gala on February 20th, at the Paramount Conference & Event Centre in Woodbridge. The Tema Conter Memorial Trust was established by Mr. Vince Savoia. Vince as an attending paramedic in 1988, dealt with strong bout of post-traumatic stress after arriving at the murder scene of Tema Conter. The Memorial Trust was created to help end the silent suffering of emergency service workers; the first people to arrive on the scene, these people often witness horrific events, yet they continue to soldier on bravely in the service of others.
The event was emceed by another inspirational hero, Alvin Law. Born without arms, Alvin himself has carved quite an inspirational story as he now offers other motivational techniques via DVD as well as a book. The event saw and saw over 400 people come out to support this great cause. The Toronto Police Pipe Band and Limelight Music provided entertainment throughout the evening.
All in all, the event was enjoyed by all in attendance and served to provide awareness for a subject that could use a little more exposure.
