Vaughan Businesswoman Makes a Difference for Sick Kids
In the early 1960s, Santina Mariani, owner and proprietor of Zero20 Bambini, was the victim of a freak accident. She was very badly burned and, if not for the care provided to her by the SickKids Hospital in Toronto, she very well may not have been the same person she is today. Nearly 50 years after that experience, Santina organized fundraising efforts to give support back to the hospital. On February 20th, Santina, alongside representatives from the hospital, presented a cheque for $10,000 to be directed to the SickKids Burn Unit.
The celebration of good deeds and life was a spirited affair. Vaughan Fire and Rescue workers were in attendance, while That’s Italian Ristorante provided pizza to those in attendance. On the topic of future donations, Santina said, “We would like to step up our efforts and continue to do all the above and hopefully donate $10,000 each and every year for the next ten years.”
