"Stigma: An Old Hat" Luncheon
Hats on for Awareness, a newly formed charity dedicated to raising funds for and awareness about mental illness and addictions, hosted its inaugural “Stigma: An Old Hat” luncheon on June 17th at Bellvue Manor in Vaughan. With special guests Darrell Louise Gregerson (President and CEO of CAMH), Cherie Reitzel, and Ramsin Khachi (City TV’s City Line Celebrity Designer) joining the charity’s founding member Enza Checchia to discuss the stigmas associated with mental illnesses, many in attendance were able to enjoy a great lunch while learning about a very important topic. In 2010, HATS ON FOR AWARENESS has pledged to raise $250,000 for CAMH over the next five years. The luncheon also served as a precursor to the second annual “Hatsquerade Ball” this coming September. The event will raise money for the Centre for Mental Health and Addictions (CAMH) and build on the success of the inaugural 2009 “Hatsquerade Ball” which raised $47,000 for CAMH.
