Coasting in Support of the Vaughan Hospital
On Sunday, September 25, 2011 the Vaughan Health Care Foundation hosted their first charity bike ride, “Coasting”. The ride was established to raise money and awareness for the Vaughan Hospital. The Fundraiser was organized by Lindsay Watt and Jey-son Edwards, who wanted to host a 10km and a 40km ride to promote physical activity and wellness by getting the community involved in an event that also benefits the future Vaughan Hospital.
The ride started off at Nascar Speedpark at Vaughan Mills, with Sparkie the mascot leading out the riders. The weather was absolutely wonderful and the just shy of 40 cyclists and sponsors enjoyed a great time cycling throughout the city and surrounding areas. Participants were greeted at the SpinKicks Fitness Studios finish line with a Swag bag and enjoyed a post-ride BBQ.
When it was all said and done the event help to raise over $2000 in its inaugural year. Plans are already underway for next year’s event which promises to be even bigger and better. For more information visit CoatingBikeRides.com and Vaughanhospital Facebook page for more photos!
