Becel Ride for Heart kick-off
The Heart and Stroke Foundation, a volunteer-based health charity, leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its application, the promotion of healthy living, and advocacy. This spring, sports celebrities, heart disease and stroke survivors and Heart and Stroke Foundation spokespeople came together to demonstrate how to get fit for the 25th annual Ride for Heart on CYKL RealRyder™ spin bikes. Becel, the title sponsor of Ride for Heart, were offering free cholesterol tests as part of its nationwide mission to help Canadians understand the importance of controlling cholesterol to reduce their risk of heart disease and stroke. Olympic cyclist Curt Harnett and Olympic rower and avid cyclist Marnie McBean joined Heart and Stroke. Foundation spokesperson Dr. Marco Di Buono, Director of Philanthropy (and spin instructor)to demonstrate how to get fit for the Ride for Heart as did numerous foundation managers from all over Ontario. The ride takes place the first Sunday in June (3rd) so visit www.rideforheart.ca to sign up or donate.
