"Civies" Day Fundraiser at St Jean de Brebeuf
On April 18th, St Jean de Brebeuf did their part to support the ongoing battle against cancer. Usually being a uniform school, the St Jean de Brebeuf Track Team and Student Government teamed up to convince Principal Romolo Villani to host a “civies day” during which the students were allowed to wear their regular clothing for one day. Each student, in return for being allowed to wear our own clothes, had to donate at least $1.00 to the cause. The Track Team and the Student Government then collected those funds and donated the money to the Canadian Cancer Society, keeping a small fraction of the money to be used by the Track Team. In total, approximately $1100.00 was raised for cancer research. Throughout the week (April 16th-20th), a booth was set up in the cafeteria during lunch raising additional money for this cause. With a separate donation of at least $00.25, you received a yellow daisy pin to wear on your uniform shirt or jacket to show your support for this cause. The fundraiser was a huge success, and has proven once again that if we come together, we can and we will beat cancer.
